GIC 3

The GIC 3 course is the last of the three induction courses and provides cadets who have successfully completed GIC 2 with 5
launches or 30 minutes of soaring flight. Again, a short ground lesson is provided prior to flight.

Ground Lesson
During the ground lesson a member of 661 staff will deliver safety brief, re-familiarise trainees with safety equipment and parachutes before again
ensuring each trainee is comfortable with the course syllabus and handover / takeover control procedures.

Launch 1
This launch gives each trainee the chance to revise what was learnt in GIC 1 & GIC 2 and once again comfortable with pitch & roll, continue
with the GIC syllabus.

Launch 2
During launch 2, trainees learn how to control the aircraft in yaw using the rudder to maintain balanced flight.

Launches 3 and 4
These launches allow consolidation of all the skills and knowledge gained in the previous flights. With a good understanding of pitch, roll and yaw,
this is when most trainees really start to feel in control of the aircraft.

Launch 5
This launch provides an introduction to stalling; for many trainees this experience is an enormous thrill but moreover the flight demonstrates that
the feeling is not unpleasant and also that control is easily regained.
