GIC 1
The GIC 1 course provides cadets with a short ground lesson followed by 3 launches or 20 minutes of soaring flight.
Ground Lesson
During which a member of 661 staff will deliver safety brief, familiarise trainees with safety equipment and parachutes before ensuring each trainee is comfortable with the course syllabus and handover / takeover control procedures.
Launch 1
This is basically a familiarisation flight giving trainees the chance to acclimatise themselves with the aircraft, see how it flies and have a look at the scenery.
Launch 2
This launch provides an introduction to the datum attitude together with awareness of the basic flying instruments (Air Speed Indicator & Altimeter)
Launch 3
During launch 3 there will be a demonstration of pitch, trainees will learn how to control the aircraft in pitch using the elevators. Once comfortable trainees get an opportunity to fly and control the aircraft in the pitching plane.
