Situated at Royal Air Force Kirknewton, 661 Volunteer Gliding School is conveniently located to serve the cadets of central and Southern Scotland.
The airfield lies approximately 1km South of the village of Kirknewton in Midlothian and can be accessed easily from the South using the A70 and the North using the A71; in both cases turning onto the B7068.
The airfield entrance is defined by two yellow pillars adjacent to the road. Visitors should proceed to the compound entrance and park adjacent the green portocabins, then report to the senior officer. GIC parties are asked to arrive by 0830 hours on their allocated date to ensure that relevant paper work and briefings may be carried out timeously.
